Children treated with Tamiflu suffer nightmares and nausea
'More than half of children who take Tamiflu suffer side effects such as nausea and nightmares.
The drug being used to fight swine flu can also produce stomach pain, diarrhoea and sleeping problems.
Researchers in two studies reported that many children found concentration difficult after taking the drug - which could affect their performance in school tests and exams.
The findings will cause deep concern among parents and raise the question of whether the powerful anti-viral should be handed out so widely when the vast majority of swine flu cases involve only a mild illness.'
I wonder if the New Zealand Ministry of Health will bother to let parents know that? Somehow, I doubt it.

The opposition will get another boost from three parties whose votes will be redistributed because they didn’t reach the 5 percent minimum needed to enter parliament.

Sect leader Mohammed Yusuf escaped along with about 300 followers but his deputy was killed in Wednesday night's bombardment, according to Army commander Maj. Gen. Saleh Maina. The army was conducting a house-to-house manhunt Thursday on the outskirts of Maiduguri for Yusuf and his followers.
Khaleej Times - At least 11 soldiers were killed on Wednesday in an ambush by Islamic extremists near Tipaza, about 100 kilometres (60 miles) from Algiers, news media in the Algerian capital reported Thursday.
Adnkronos - A convicted Tunisian former 'mujahideen' who fought on the side of local Muslims during the 1990s Bosnian war, has escaped from a Bosnian jail, local media reported on Wednesday. Karaj Kamel Bin Ali, known as 'Abu Hamza', didn't return to prison after he was granted a week's leave, Bosnian television reports said.
Khaleej Times - A Gaza man is being held on suspicion he bludgeoned his daughter with an iron chain, cracking her skull in a particularly brutal family ‘honor killing,’ two human rights groups said Wednesday, citing police and forensics reports. The assault was triggered by Jawdat Najjar’s discovery that his daughter Fadia — a 27-year-old divorced mother of five — owned a cell phone, the groups said. He suspected she used it to speak to a man outside the family, according to the groups’ reports.
And last but not least, the Hussein Obama administration is allowing the restrictions placed on muslim shoe-bomber Richard Reid to expire. Apparently attempting to blow up an airliner full of people is not reason enough to stop a scumbag like Reid from fraternizing with his fellow jihadists. A Blenheim father has been convicted and fined $1000 for assaulting a man who wanted to have sex with his 13-year-old daughter.
Defence lawyer Michael Hardy Jones told the Blenheim District Court yesterday that the May 5 assault occurred after the defendant and his wife had tried other ways of keeping the man away from their daughter. All names are suppressed.
Mr Hardy Jones said that when the father, 43, realised a relationship had developed between his daughter and the 23-year-old, he initially went to the police. "They said they were not able to assist at that stage."
Help was then sought from Child Youth and Family (CYF), and then a church pastor. The latter organised a meeting and the victim promised to end his contact with the girl.
However, a few days later, the defendant and his wife were driving to work when they saw their daughter who should have been at school walking back home, hand-in-hand with the victim.
The father yesterday admitted to approaching the victim and punching the younger man in the face. He continued to hit the man on the ground and when he had stood up again. Mr Hardy Jones said the injuries were not great.
Judge Michael Behrens convicted the father and fined him $1000."
If any Kiwi reader knows the identity of the father, Gecko and I will be very glad to chip in and help pay this monstrous penalty for protecting his daughter. We don't have tons of money, but by God that would be money spent in a righteous cause.

'FOX News Poll: 60 Percent Disapprove of Congress'
Less than one-third of Americans approve of Congress' performance as support from Democrats has tumbled -- and as more people identify themselves as Republicans than have done so since 2008.
The drop in Congress' approval rating comes almost entirely from Democrats and independents. Some 42 percent of Democrats say they disapprove of Congress, up significantly from 25 percent two months ago (12-13 May 2009).
Not that the Dems have to worry--by next elections, ACORN will have enrolled a million or so dead people and illegal immigrants to vote and vote again for them.

'Thousands of Muslims Gather in London to Demand a Caliphate'
"Britain has revealed itself as the major Muslim invasion point for Europe with a rally of thousands of militant Muslims under the radical Hizb ut-Tahrir pan-Islamist party in London supporting Jihad and the creation of a caliphate in which non-Muslims will have no rights.
The rally — largely ignored by the controlled media out of a desire to hide the shocking truth from the British public — was organised by Hizb ut-Tahrir Britain, which is the UK variant of the globalist Islamist party. An official Hizb ut Tahrir press release stated: “The conference highlighted how the method to re-establish the Khilafah is based on the Life (Seerah) of the Prophet Muhammad (saw), which clearly laid out a non-violent intellectual and political struggle to bring about change. Hizb ut-Tahrir has continued with this method for over 50 years and calls Muslims all over the world to this path for change.
“The conference concluded by emphasizing the key role the Muslim community in the West plays in terms of supporting the call for Khilafah in the Muslim world and carrying the Message of Islam to the wider non-Muslim society, breaking the stereotypes and presenting Islam with sound argument and good example.”
The London Khilafah conference followed a month-long series of conferences in Lebanon, Kuwait, Gaza, Sudan, Tanzania, Turkey, Pakistan, Bangladesh, the US and Australia. It included a landmark gathering in Indonesia of thousands of leading scholars supporting the re-establishment of the Khilafah which was addressed by the global leader, Ameer of Hizb ut Tahrir, Sheikh Ata abu Rashta.
* Hizb ut-Tahrir (English: Party of Liberation) is an international pan-Islamist, Sunni political party whose goal is to combine all Muslim countries in a unitary Islamic state or caliphate, ruled by Islamic law and with a caliph head of state elected by Muslims.
Taqiuddin al-Nabhani, an Islamic scholar, founded the organization in 1953 in Jerusalem. Since then Hizb ut-Tahrir has spread to more than 40 countries. Hizb ut-Tahrir is very active in the West, particularly in the United Kingdom, and is also active in several Arab and Central Asian countries, despite being banned in many of them.
Hizb ut-Tahrir believes a caliphate “will provide stability and security to all the people of the region, Muslims and Non-Muslims”. The party promotes “an elaborate and detailed program for instituting an Islamist state” that will “establish the laws of the Islamic Shariah and carry the Da’wah of Islam to the world.”
Article 56 of the draft constitution of the proposed caliphate state describes conscription as a compulsory individual duty, for all citizens. “Every male Muslim, fifteen years and over, is obliged to undergo military training in readiness for jihad.”
Hizb ut-Tahrir rejects democracy as a western system and unIslamic Hizb ut-Tahrir’s official papers say that “The basis of the democratic system is that people possess the right of sovereignty, choice and implementation … it is a Kufr system because it is laid down by man and it is not from the Shari’ah Laws.”
In Hizb ut-Tahrir’s draft constitution for its unified Islamic state, any non-Muslims living in the state may not serve in any of the ruling offices, such as the position of caliph, nor vote for these officials, as these positions require those who fulfil them to believe in the system. Muslims have “the right to participate in the election of the Khaleefah [head of state] and in giving him the pledge (ba’iah). Non-Muslims have no right in this regard.”
Hizb ut-Tahrir claims the rights of Jews and other non-Muslims are enshrined within statuary Islamic Law (Sharia). These were laid down by the prophet Muhammad when he established the first Islamic state in Medina in the seventh century. He said, “Whoever harms a dhimmi (non-Muslim citizen) has harmed me.”
In regards to foreign policy, Article 186 of the draft constitution states: “The State is forbidden to belong to any organisation that is based on something other than Islam or that applies non-Islamic rules.”
Article 7 of its Draft Constitution declares that Muslims who “have by themselves renounced Islam … are guilty of apostasy (murtad) from Islam [and] are to be executed.”
Hizb ut-Tahrir forbids women from ruling positions such as caliph, Chief Justice, provincial governor, or mayor citing prophetic traditions. Article 109 of the party’s draft constitution prescribes segregation of the sexes in public activities such as school, sporting activities, etc. Muslim women would be required to hide “their charms,” i.e. their body with the exception of hands and face, to dress in accordance with khimar and jilbab. Article 114 of the constitution specifies that women should not be allowed to be in private with men other than their husband or members of their immediate family (father, brother, son). Article 116 stipulates that once married a woman is obliged to obey her husband.

'Bennett gets tough with outspoken solo mums'
'Details of state benefits received by two solo mothers have been made public by the Government after the pair criticised cutbacks to a training allowance.
Staff from Social Development Minister Paula Bennett's office gave the Herald a tally of each woman's weekly income from the state - including benefits and other allowances - after the women spoke out in the Herald on Sunday and Labour used their stories in Parliament last week.
The details were handed over without the knowledge of the mothers, Jennifer Johnston and Natasha Fuller.
Ms Bennett said she had a right to release information on individuals if they left out relevant details when publicising their situations.
"If someone is deciding they're happy to use their case to speak about or against something we are doing, I think it's fair the full story be told." '
And why the hell shouldn't the details be made public? If we're paying people, we're entitled to know who they are and just how much we're paying them. What these two women don't seem to understand is that taking money from working Kiwis involves (or should involve) some kind of reciprocal responsibility. And if they're going to go public with their gripes about the trough not being deep enough then there will be costs -a concept that's obviously alien to the two delicate welfare flowers.

Stupid smelly hippies
Wouldn't it be nice if these useless parasites could ship off somewhere else, say China or North Korea or some other beloved shithole of theirs. It'd be two less on the welfare list for starters.
Apparently these clowns spent 11 days in some joint American-Australian military exercise area undetected and that's supposed to be some sort of major security thing. It's a sad reflection upon the education system in this country that these half-wits don't even know that if it weren't for the U.S. Alliance they hate so much, that sign would be in Japanese or German and they'd be the forced concubines of some Japanese big-shot.
Look at them, they're obviously high on pot most of the time, believe in some peace-now, kumbaya, give-communism-a-chance nonsense. A warrior has been called home

Naive western appeasers

I heard this woman on talkback radio this afternoon and the impression I got was that she was just itching for a bit of attention for her precious muslim cause. The radio host was a bit soft on her but he did ask her some revealing questions like what would she do when a policeman asked to see her face. She replied that she would ask him to send a female police officer to check her id and her face.
I must say that even the conservatives on radio were defending her right to walk around like some sort of floral ninja which surprised me, even the newspapers and editors were all on her side. Last I heard, the driver is going to get a proper ass-whipping and the company will be bending to the muslims' every need. Ultimately the talking heads and her supporters feel that because she is muslim, she has special rights. Anyone who opposes her yearning for the spotlight and grievance-mongering is nothing but a piece of shit racist. Never mind that she's actually a white woman who 'reverted' [her words] to Islam. If you're white or non-muslim, then screw you, show your face, no calling a female officer or any such nonsense. If it's a muslim, start stretching your backs, it's bending time infidel scum!

Perth Now - A WA emergency patient recently waited more than 45 hours for a hospital bed, according to a national report. The report, a snapshot compiled for the Australian College of Emergency Medicine, found WA still had the worst emergency department overcrowding in Australia. The snapshot of 79 emergency departments Australia-wide was undertaken at 10am on Monday, June 1.
......“Half of Australia’s training hospitals have patients waiting for an inpatient bed more than 12 hours after that bed was formally requested,” ACEM president Sally McCarthy said. “Even though politicians and health departments have been shown the facts and even though patients are still dying while waiting for beds, there has been no significant improvement in access block since this time last year.”
The only thing you can be sure of with socialized health is that there will be report after report after report, inquiry after inquiry after inquiry, gobbling more and more of your money every year but nothing will change. Consider yourself lucky if the waiting doesn't get longer.

Welfare and PC cowardice. Billions of dollars have been thrown at Maori, yet these people still lead the indicators of criminality and welfare dependency. Their 'leaders' are constantly calling for more money, more privileged treatment yet they've used very little of the money and assets they've been given to improve the standards of education and participation in those things which produce stable families and reduce poverty.
Because they're mired in a victim/grievance culture in which everything is somebody else's fault, everything is too hard and the seductive lure of claiming to be disadvantaged and deserving of yet another handout beats the pride of personal achievement. After all, who among us--when things are tough and we're dragging our weary bodies to work--wouldn't be tempted to throw up our hands if we could simply relax and blame everything on colonialism or racism or a disadvantaged childhood? Especially if we could deflect any personal blame and demands for accountability with the use of just one word:
"Racism".
I was prompted to think about this again by a blog post written by Lindsay Mitchell- a keen observer of the NZ welfare scene- on the growth of welfare:

Yet if two people have been working and paying taxes to support these scams, and one of them becomes unemployed, the unemployed partner isn't eligible for welfare payments! Slavery is ok, in the form of working to support those who never have and never will work but supporting one's partner is for some reason "unaffordable" even if that means the couple lose their home as a consequence.

THE AUSTRALIAN PROTECTIONIST PARTY (APP)
What we have in Australia (in common with New Zealand, America, Britain and numerous other Western countries) is effectively a ruling duopoly. And people vote for them more from the sense of "what's the alternative?" rather than for any real hope of change. The way forward must be to break that duopoly by supporting real alternatives.
" The APP is a true grass roots political party which was formed in 2007 in reaction to, and concern for, the ever increasing growth of federal and state governments. Our federal and state governments have, over the past 34years, grown more exponentially in that time, than at any time during our 108 years of federation. The Human Rights Commission and the Department of Multiculturalism are but two of the many Ministries that have been created during this period. Over the past 34 years successive federal and state governments have without public mandate or referenda, introduced so many new laws which now intrude upon our daily lives, from the cradle to the grave, that governments have had to employ thousands of new workers to enforce those laws. Successive governments have overseen the destruction of our manufacturing base to the point where we now no longer even produce a light bulb! Our current system of government may now be seen for the failure that it is, as no federal or state political party is prepared to accept, and then to address, these simple facts.
The APP believes that big government is bad government which eventually becomes unworkable, and therefore uncontrollable. Our present system of government has embraced ideals through multicultural and politically correct policies that now threaten our very survival as a nation. Government should never vary from the simple truth that government should be by the people for the people.
The APP believes that any law which restricts a citizen’s rights or liberty, under common law is an illegal law, and therefore should not stand. The APP also believes that when balancing a citizen’s right as opposed to public safety concerns, that public safety must always prevail as part of sound governance.
Currently the party is on the threshold of federal registration, and will be seeking all state registration in the near future. One of our goals is for a less restrictive National Firearms Legislation as expressed in the following:

Our criminal justice system is based on the premise that a person is ‘innocent’ under the law, until proven guilty. On that premise alone, the current National Firearms Policy is flawed - as anyone wishing to possess a firearm is now treated as having a criminal tendency, and to be generally considered, a danger to society. Under current firearms legislation there is now a presumption of guilt against the innocent gun owner. Not only is this legislation unconstitutional, draconian and oppressive, it also negates the right to self-defence under Common Law, by which we are all entitled to defend ourselves. National Firearms Legislation, which-in part-was also designed to keep guns out of the hands of criminals, may also be seen in this regard to be an abject failure.
It is not the role of government to restrict the individual citizen’s access to weaponry. All citizens under constitutional and common law are entitled to procure for their own self-defence those weapons that they feel most comfortable with. While there is an expectation that a properly functioning government is to uphold the people’s welfare and safety, self-defence issues must be a citizen’s choice.
Therefore, the Australian Protectionist Party (APP) believes that a non - political body, consisting of firearms experts and criminal defence lawyers, be temporarily appointed for the sole purpose of formulating National Firearms Legislation designed to be less intrusive on personal liberty and privacy. We also envisage recommendations by that appointed body to introduce self-defence legislation, via criminal statute codes, into parliaments, state and federal. We believe a citizen’s right to self-defence, by whatever means that are appropriate at the time, are paramount to the safety and liberty of all citizens. For far too long, the ambiguous phrase, “use of reasonable force” has been the cornerstone when dealing with issues of self-defence matters and has remained within the preserve of the legal fraternity, which some could argue does not have the individual citizen’s rights at heart. The APP demands an unambiguous law that clearly states the unalienable right of a citizen to self defence. We also believe that in times of crisis, whereby governments or their appointed law enforcement agents are no longer able to protect the citizen, it is the individuals right to have the means to be able to protect themselves.
We have prepared guidelines for consultation into APP policy. We envisage the following:
All applicants for firearms licenses to be thoroughly instructed in firearms safety via a mandatory course through accredited Gun Clubs or Licensed Firearms Dealers. All applicants to undergo a criminal history/cultural background check prior to obtaining gun license and firearms/ammunition. Purchase of firearms/ammunition may only be made with a current shooters license.
Storage of firearms to be an individual owners responsibility. However, the onus will be on the individual owner to make safe his/her weaponry and ammunition, failure to do so may result in criminal prosecution.
There is to be no firearms registration requirement. Canada has abandoned this legislation as difficult to police and far too expensive to maintain. NSW is currently considering abandoning firearms registration for the very same reasons. Given that our society has become more violent in recent years and criminals/gangs now employ prohibited firearms, which are easily obtained on the black market, we can safely assume that any gun registration only penalizes the ‘honest’ citizen.
Those individuals or companies choosing to use firearms in the course of conducting business ie, store owners, security guards, financial institutions etc, will be supervised and checked by police at least once per year, as this issue is also a public safety concern. Proficiency in the use of available weaponry by the user to be of paramount importance here.
Proscribed weapons lists under current legislation, which specifically targets firearms, will be reviewed for future consideration. Some firearms on these lists need not be there ie, pellet guns. Self loading rifles, as opposed to Assault type firearms, to also be considered.
Strong penalties to those licensing officials who issue to individuals or groups, who do not meet license requirements. Licensing branch police to adequately inspect license registrations and enforce guidelines.
Police to issue, or to revoke, special permits for hand held firearms carried by individuals in the course of their business, or for self protection. This is also a public safety issue whereby local police would be better suited to enforcing the permits.
The APP wishes to invite any constructive suggestions from individuals, Gun Clubs, Law Enforcement agencies or government instruments and political parties, if they feel they may be able to contribute ideas or knowledge which could further expand and enhance future legislation."

Each cast their mind to a mother, father and brother, somewhere in Melbourne who had received that call telling them their loved one was the latest victim, the Herald Sun reports.
Mr McCormack, whose son Shannon died after he was assaulted outside QBH nightclub in May 2007, said the only way to stem the bloodshed was to have more police in the city. "We need a bigger police presence on the street - police can save lives just by being there, they don't even have to do anything, just be there," he said. ......"It has to be supported by increased police on the streets and backed up by the government and the judicial system. We need to provide more social and sporting activities to provide an outlet for these young people, particularly young males."
Yes, more police and a tougher judicial system will help, but only if both will happen and neither will. I'll tell you why, more police won't happen because that requires more money, which we don't have. A tougher judiciary won't happen either because they are not accountable to us, if a judge lets some piece of shit off with a light sentence you can't do a damn thing about it.
Even if by some miracle all the stars and planets align and this actually happens, I guarantee that it will not remain in place for long, that is just the way it is when it comes to government. The only thing you can do is to allow the law-abiding the right to defend themselves with the means that you have failed to remove from the criminals. Until we do that, we will continue to weep and call for someone else to do something that they either can't or won't.

'No justice is no justice at all'
"The Chief Justice of New Zealand, Dame Sian Elias has issued her prescription for justice. It's one in particular that I have issue with:
[42] My last suggestion may be controversial. I do not know whether it is practical or politically acceptable, but I think it needs to be considered. We need to look at direct tools to manage the prison population if overcrowding is not to cause significant safety and human rights issues. Other countries use executive amnesties to send prisoners into the community early to prevent overcrowding. Such solutions will not please many. And I am not well placed to assess whether they are feasible. But the alternatives and the costs of overcrowding need to be weighed.
This idea shows a weird disconnect from the point of justice. This idea follows from her argument that society is to blame for these people in the first place. So she wants to let them out into society. Give them amnesty. Cancel their sentences. Forgive their sins, even if they show no repentance. It's ludicrous.
Punishing people may not rehabilitate them, but not punishing people at all will only create more victims..."

Religion of peace strikes again
News.com.au - BOMBS have exploded at the Ritz-Carlton and Marriott hotels in Jakarta, reportedly killing at least nine people and injuring more than 50, including two Australians. The blasts were followed by a car explosion in North Jakarta where two people died. A witness has told the Associated Press that he saw four bodies inside the Marriott, which was also the scene of a bombing in 2003 which killed 12 people. ......Police are yet to confirm if the blasts were caused by bombs, but the sequence of the explosions bears the hallmarks of similar al-Qaeda attacks. A security expert said Young JI [Jemaah Islamiah] rebels may have been behind the attacks.

Zelaya’s ultimate goal was to extend or abolish presidential term limits, mimicking the example of Hugo Chávez and other Latin American populists. Hondurans rightly feared that such a maneuver would set their country on the path to Chávez-style authoritarianism. When the Supreme Court rebuffed him, Zelaya defied its ruling. Along with a large group of followers, he ransacked a military post and seized millions of referendum ballots. While it is always unnerving to see gun-toting officers arrest a president, the move against Zelaya was not a conventional “military coup,” but an affirmation of democracy and the rule of law, both of which Zelaya had flouted.

Gates ordered interceptors to Hawaii. This allowed President Obama to go on television and tell Harry Smith of CBS News that Americans in Honolulu and elsewhere are safe from North Korean mischief: “Well, first of all, let’s be clear. This administration — and our military — is fully prepared for any contingencies.” Obama nonetheless plans to slash missile-defense funding by about $1.4 billion in the 2010 budget. Ground-based interceptors in Alaska, the Airborne Laser program, and the prospective basing of a small system in Eastern Europe — all developed with an eye toward countering Iran and North Korea — could suffer. The next time the United States needs missile defenses, it may not have them.
Every year, the National Endowment for Democracy gives an award, and every year the winner or winners get some presidential attention. This year was somewhat different. NED honored five Cuban democracy activists. Three of them are in prison; two of them are out, for now. Needless to say, no one was able to travel to Washington. The general understanding of 'a right' to something, is that this something must be provided somehow. So if teenagers have a 'right' to enjoyable sex, does government now have to provide this, it's a 'right' isn't it? What about sex or masturbation twice a week?'

So the evidence is clear, after the government spent £6million of taxpayers money educating teenage girls all about sex, more of the ones that were 'educated' than the ones that were ignorant, ended up pregnant. If they hadn't spent the 6million pounds the taxpayer and the girls would have been better off. Nothing in the article, but I doubt very much that the people who actually coughed up this 6million pounds can get even part of their money back.......It came to light just a week after it emerged that teenagers who took part in a £6million Government initiative to reduce teenage pregnancies were more than twice as likely to fall pregnant as other girls. The scheme tried to persuade girls not to get pregnant by handing out condoms and teaching them about sex.
In light of this, I say it's time that we tell government to get out of sex-education, it's plainly obvious that they can't do it, they shouldn't do it and they should stop wasting our hard-earned.

News.com.au - CHINESE Government sources say President Hu Jintao personally endorsed the Ministry of State Security investigation into Rio Tinto that led to the detention of Australian iron ore executive Stern Hu and three staff. The investigation appears to be part of a big realignment of how China manages its economy, with spy and security agencies promoted to top strategy-making bodies, The Sydney Morning Herald reports.
......The revelation comes as The Australian reports China has rebuffed the Rudd government and may force Australian officials to wait a further month for a second visit to Mr Hu. Senior Australian ministers have warned that China risked damaging its international trade relations over Mr Hu's arrest, with new reports emerged that Rio Tinto was seeking as much as $9 billion in compensation for breach of contracts from Chinese steel mills.
......Chinese-born Mr Hu, the head of Rio Tinto's iron ore operations in China, and three other senior company officials were arrested in Shanghai by secret police and have been detained for a week without charge or legal representation.
It's a warning that none of us ought to be surprised by or need. They've killed millions of their own in the name of ideology. 'Swine flu vaccine rushed through safety checks'
"A vaccine against swine flu will be fast-tracked for use in Britain in just five days, with 130 million doses on order.

Sotomayor's backers are urging reporters to probe what one called the "troubled and litigious work history" of Ricci, according to McClatchy Newspapers.
Sotomayor rejected Ricci's reverse discrimination claim in an appeals court decision but the Supreme Court reversed that ruling last week. Republicans point to Sotomayor's decision as evidence she might let her personal and political views -- particularly a belief in racial preferences for minorities -- influence her decisions. But supporters of Sotomayor are apparently trying to shift the focus on Ricci.
What the hell does this fellow's life have to do with the nomination of their racist latino? Think about it, sotomayor rejected his claim and it wasn't Ricci that then kicked her racist ass back down, he had nothing to do with the Supreme Court reversal. They looked at her ruling and found that she's a racist and a probably a fool, so they corrected it, end of story. Ricci didn't posses magical powers or something to make those other judges see the lefties racist latino nomination for what she really is.
If anything, they should be demonstrating why the Supreme Court reversal was wrong and their racist latino isn't really that, but no, like your everyday bully and thug, the left are going after the small target, the more vulnerable one. They also cite Hartford Courant stories from the same period detailing how Ricci was fired by a fire department in Middletown, Conn. -- allegedly, Ricci said then, because of safety concerns he raised.

They also cite Hartford Courant stories from the same period detailing how Ricci was fired by a fire department in Middletown, Conn. -- allegedly, Ricci said then, because of safety concerns he raised.

Shove it CAIR
To which Robert Spencer replies.CAIR Chicago - The Chicago office of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-Chicago) today called on the American Library Association (ALA) to drop an "Islamophobe" from a panel discussion on dispelling stereotypes about Islam. Robert Spencer, publisher of the anti-Islam Internet hate site "Jihad Watch," is scheduled to speak July 12 on a panel, titled "Perspectives on Islam: Beyond the Stereotyping," at the ALA annual conference in Chicago. One other panelist already withdrew in protest over Spencer's participation.

The limitless stupidity of leftist government
No folks, it's not some sort of joke. No folks, I ain't pulling a fast one or a slow one for that matter. This is for real, these are illegals you see and they have committed crimes more than just sneaking over the border. The jails in the UK are full and the Brits can't kick these vermin onto the first boat/plane out of London because it would breach their human rights, yes really.Daily Mail - British taxpayers are to provide £1million for a comfortable jail in Nigeria to take convicts whose crimes were committed in the UK. The prison would house 400 Nigerian inmates incarcerated in our own packed prisons who cannot be forcibly sent home to complete their punishments. Jails there are considered so rough that any prisoner the UK tried to deport could oppose their removal on human rights grounds.
Now if they go ahead with this building of jails over in Nigeria and the like to house these criminals, there is no word in the article or assurance from the British government that these scumbags won't be brought back to Britain after serving their sentences. Now you might think that can't happen, if you do, you fool! You should know better, this is government and what's worse, it's leftist government. You have to get it in writing, a written contract with the punishment being death-by-stoning for breaking it.
And you have to make sure someone will monitor this and ensure compliance or again, death-by-stoning, otherwise you can never rest easy. This state government is broke, they have very few options, cut services and sell the farm off or raise taxes. The people of this state are not willing to give up the nanny state, we still want public health, subsidized transport, free this, free that and all the services that government apparently provides for free. We don't want to let go of any of that, we don't want to cough up extra taxes which is understandable, so we're going to have to suck it up and choke it down. The choices are bad and worse. The sad thing about this whole fiasco is that people will whine, protest, petition and all that to get their police stations back. This is all well and good if the leftist government we voted for can afford to keep them, which I doubt it will, but it still won't keep us safe. Having more police out there will help off course, but we are still not allowed the basic human-right to defend ourselves with arms, so unless you can saturate every corner with a copper, there will still be times when you're really just bare-assed and defenseless.
In a way we are getting what we deserve, when we gave up our right to bear arms and trampled upon the rights of others to bear arms we basically said, we don't want the responsibility to defend ourselves and we won't let anyone else take it on either. And so our liberty was taken away from us by the nanny state and now our safety is also taken away. So here we are, reduced to the state of frightened, whining toddlers unable to accept that we outsourced our security to those who don't really give a damn about us and now there is little recourse.

The transcript was released by Occidental College in compliance with a court order in a suit brought by the group in the Superior Court of California. The transcript shows that Obama (Soetoro) applied for financial aid and was awarded a fellowship for foreign students from the Fulbright Foundation Scholarship program. To qualify for the scholarship, a student must claim foreign citizenship. This document would seem to provide the smoking gun that many of Obama’s detractors have been seeking."

'Why not negotiate from a position of strength?

In today's Wall Street Journal Keith Payne has an excellent article titled Arms Control Amnesia. While the rest of the press continues to talk about the self inflicted death of a pop star, Mr. Payne actually analyzes what our President is doing.
It turns out our President is agreeing to new limits nuclear warheads and the ability to launch those warheads. For the press that isn't covering M Jackson, this is a reason to wax eloquently on how well The One is doing. For those with a more strategic mindset or not focused on fulfilling a college fantasy this is a disaster.
"According to open Russian sources, it was Russia that pushed for the lower limit of 500 launchers in negotiations."
Why would the Russians argue to lower their capability? Simple, their nuclear capability is dying on the vine. Without significant expenditure they won't even be able to maintain their current arsenal.
"....the number of deployed Russian strategic ICBMs, SLBMs, and bombers will drop dramatically simply as a result of their aging. In other words, a large number of Russian launchers will be removed from service with or without a new arms-control agreement."
The bottom line is that Russia would have to spend a great deal of money to merely maintain it's arsenal. It was the spending of massive defense dollars that broke the former Soviet Union. Don't for a second think that the Russians have forgotten that lesson, but it appears that The One has. It's expensive and difficult to even attempt to keep up with the US military. It's much better for the Russians to let the Americans give up their strategic advantage voluntarily.
Why is this so bad you ask? It's simple economics. If Russia feels she needs to spend more money on launch systems to try to maintain parity, then she has less money to involve herself in military adventures such as Georgia, ship arms to states that don't like us much, or any other host of anti-US policies. Think of the things we could have negotiated for. Just off from the top of my head; Help preventing a nuclear Iran. An energy agreement that doesn't hold Western Europe hostage. Help with strangling North Korea's despotic regime. Imagine the concessions that could have been negotiated merely by suggesting that the new treaty INCREASE launch vehicles while keeping the warhead count the same. Surely short circuiting Iran's nuclear program and putting North Korea in a box is more valuable now than a reduction of nuclear arms between our 2 states.
Helping the world involves more than fulfilling a sophomoric college dream. It means thinking and using the power of your negotiating position to further your case. A lesson not yet learned by The One.
